Here are some examples of how you might use each of the programs we learned about:

Microsoft Word
Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Write a report on Memorial Day.
    • Make sure you include a Works Cited page where you list ALL of the resoureces you use (books, websites, etc.)
    • You may add pictures to decorate your report.
      • If you use picutres, make sure you cite it by including its source information in your Works Cited page.
        • Website where you downloaded the picture
        • Clipart Gallary where you located picture
  • Create a slide show about Memorial Dayi
    • Include pictures of him and his family
      • make sure you site all pictures
    • Include a bulleted list of major events in his life
    • Use your creativity to set up layout and color schemes

  • Create timeline of important events is Memorial Day
    • Include personal and historical events
    • Include pictures where necessary
  • Create a budget based on the economic status during the time period when Memorial Day was declared
    • Include items that were necessities for people of the time period
    • Include pictures where necessary
 
  • Create a book list of biographical and historical literature about the life and times of Memorial Day
    • Include authors, copyright dates, and pictures
    • Include short summary of book
    • Rate books based on levels:
      • Importants
      • Accuracy
      • Interest
    • Include possible locations for finding books (Amazon.com, local library)

  • Create a Web page on Memorial Day.
    • Make sure you include Reference notes at the bottom where you list ALL of the resoureces you use (books, websites, etc.)
      • link your websites to their locations.
    • You should have your background set as a color (not white) or choose a background
      • If using background picture, must be sourced in the footer
    • You should add pictures to decorate your page.
      • Make sure you link the pictures to their URL sources
        • Website where you downloaded the picture
    • At the bottom of your page, make sure you provide the following information:
      • Your Name (first only)
      • Current Date
      • Updated Date (last date something was changed)
      • School Name
      • Class Name -- "8th Grade Computer Class" (linked to class homepage)
      • Background Source ("This background can be found at: ")
    • This footer is VERY IMPORTANT for people who might view your page to learn something about Memorial Day. 30 points will be deducted if it is not there (5 points for each piece)
