Remember: You can listen to the text by clicking on the next to the text. If your essay does not follow these guidelines -- you will loose percentage points on your final grade!
All essay responses submitted in this class must follow the following guidelines :
Type your essay using a word processor.
Double space the entire document.
Use 12pt to 14pt font; It must be readable (no scripts or symbols).
Right-Align the Heading at the top; Including: Name, Class, & Date.
Use a Title unique to the assignment topic, Center it, and use Bold print.
Indent the first line of each paragraph.
Every paragraph must contain 4 - 6 COMPLETE sentences.
Do not start sentences with "and," "but," "so," or "because,'
UNLESS they are a part of a legitimate prepositional phrase.
You should avoid using contractions (i.e. that’s, didn’t, I’m, should’ve,
etc.) in essays.
If the assignment does not specify length, write a minimum of 3 paragraphs.
Always Check and Double-check Spelling & Grammar before printing.
Remember: SpellCheck does NOT catch EVERY error! You have to actually read
through the document to see if everything is right.
You should ALWAYS read your essay OUT LOUD. This will help you to catch
grammatical mistakes.
The essay should include only your own thoughts and opinions.
If you must use someone else's words, thoughts, or opinions, make sure you correctly quote them and add the source at the bottom of your essay.
If you used other sources, identify them in a list at the bottom of your
essay under the centered, and bold heading "References".
The Reference list should be in alphabetical order by the last name of the author.
Source format: Name (last, then first). Title. publisher. date written. page numbers. date you found it. web site.
For proofreading and feedback, submit your essay AT LEAST one day early.
When you are given proofreading feedback, your essay must have all of the
previously identified errors fixed before your final submission.
Save your essay in your server folder with an identifiable name.
Print and submit your essay to the teacher BEFORE the due date.
