PROCEDURES
- Each day, students will be given a handout of the daily tasks.
- Following teacher instructions, students will complete daily tasks.
- Most assignments will be completed in class and must be turned in before class session is over.
- Out-of-class assignments will be due at the beginning of the following class period.
- Assignments submitted more than 1 week late will have grades reduced accordingly.
- 1 week = 10% off , 2 weeks = 20% off, etc.
- Each week, there will be a Brain Buster bonus question.
- The first six weeks of this class will be devoted to learning the keys of the keyboard.
- Periodically, students will be assessed on their Posture and Keyboarding Techniques
- Throughout the quarter we will be studying specific vocabulary words that are associated with Computer Keyboarding.
- There will be a Vocabulary Final at the end of the quarter.
- Throughout the quarter we will be studying specific Keyboard Shortcuts associated with Windows.
- There will be a Shortcut Final at the end of the quarter.
- The final weeks of the class will be developed to Word Processing
- Students will learn to use Microsoft Word 2000 and techniques for formatting specific documents for general and educational use
- Periodic assessment and review sessions will be conducted to assess and review materials previously covered.
EXPECTATIONS
- Students are expected to learn the correct finger positions and technique to reach all of the keys on the keybaord
- Students are expected to demonstrate proper posture when working at the computer:
- Students required to leave class early for band are expected to:
- Keep watch for time to leave & inform teacher when time approaches
- Print work that has been completed before leaving
- Keep up will all class activities
- Complete some activities ON THEIR OWN TIME. Approach teacher about missed work to be completed.

- Approach teacher about missed work to be completed. Complete missed activities ON THEIR OWN TIME
- Assignments not completed due to absences will be considered ZEROES!
- Extended absenses and special circumstances must be discussed with teacher
- Students are expected to treat computer equipment with proper care:
- Leave all wiring and connections alone
- Do not switch equipment with other machines
- Report any problems with equipment to teacher immediately
- Do not alter computer settings (desktops, wallpaper, screensavers, etc.)
- Students are expected to keep classroom neat:
- Take all papers, books, and other materials with you when you leave.
- Turn off all equipment as specified by the teacher before leaving the classroom
- Push in all chairs before leaving the classroom
- Students will be expected to have designated programs or internet sites open on their computer.
- Students are expected to remain in these programs and not open others during class time.
- When using the internet, students will be expected to remain in the designated areas.
- Unless specifically given permission, students should not be:
- surfing the internet or clicking on advertisements and/or pop-up messages
- listening to music or playing games
RULES
- Arrive in class on time with all necessary materials.
- Show respect for faculty, students, and equipment at all times.
- Sit in their assigned seats every day.
- Follow the procedures and expectations for the class.

KEYBOARD VOCABULARY
- There are several vocabulary words that we will come across throughout this course.
- You will be given a copy of the vocabulary list to study these words
- Study these words
- Complete the Vocabulary Crossword Puzzle
FILE SETUP
- Go to "My Computer", Open Z:\ drive (it will have your username on it)
- Follow teacher instructions to create a new folder
- Name the folder "Keyboarding"
- This is where you will save all files for this class.
