LEARN
- Locate the keys on your Keyboard
- Place your fingers on the home row keys
- Reach up with your left index finger to reach the 5 key found above the F.
- Keep all other fingers on home row keys.
- Return your index finger to the F key.
- Reach up with your right ring finger to reach the 9 key found above the L.
- Keep all other fingers on home row keys.
- Return your ring finger to the L key.
- NOTE: When you are entering numbers, you have the option of the standard keyboard with the numbers across the top or the numeric pad found on the right side of your keyboard. The numeric pad is especially useful to anyone who is used to performing numeric calculations on a calculator-type keypad. To use the numeric pad, be certain the "Num Lock" key is activated. Many keyboards will display a light above the pad letting you know that number lock is activated. To turn Num Lock off, strike the Num Lock key a second time.
- For learning exercises, use the standard keyboard.
- Practice your finger strokes:
- Return your hands to the keyboard.
- Open Windows Notepad
- Maximize your window
- Go to File -- Save
- Go to your Keyboarding Folder: Z:\\Keyboarding\
- Name your file "Lesson15"
- Type your Name and the Date at the top of the document.
- Type the following lines.

- Type each line twice. Double space after each 2-line group.:

- Practice reaching from F to 5 without moving your other fingers.
- When you can reach to 5 without looking:
- Type the following lines 2 times each. Double-Space after each 2-line group:

- Remember to use word wrap and let the words wrap themselves. DO NOT ENTER AFTER EACH LINE!
