Directions: Follow the steps listed below along with the teacher's instructions.
Notice: The text that you are instructed to type is displayed in a Lucinda Sans Typewriter font.

FILE SETUP

FIGURE YOUR SPEED

  1. Figure your Speed
    1. Note the word-count scale below. It shows that every 5 characters -- letters, numbers, punctuation marks, and spaces -- count as 1 average word. The scale shows that each of the 2 lines above it has 10 words.
    2. If you type the first line in 1 minute, your speed is 10 words per minute. If you type both lines in 1 minute, your speed is 2 X 10 = 20 words per minute.
    3. If you type part of a line, note the number below where you stopped; it tells you how many words to count for that part of the line.

    EXAMPLE: Let's say that in the 1-minute timing below, you typed the first line and had to stop after typing the word "right" in the second line.

  3. Print to Lab Printer
