Question:

You have now read chapter 10 of On the Banks of Plum Creek. Ma wore her best dress to town. If you read Little House in the Big Woods, you might remember this dress. Where had Ma wore this dress before? Carrie's dress was made from an old dress of Laura's Today, we often buy our clothes, wear them for 2 or 3 years, and then either throw or give them away and then buy new ones. In Laura's time, clothing was often made by the women of the house and material was often scarce and expensive. Clothing was made and stored carefully to make it last as long as possible. If clothing was damaged, it was carefully repaired if at all possible. If you have somewhere special to go, do you pull out your best outfit from where it was carefully stored, or do you go to the store and buy something new? What do you d with the clothes you no longer wear? Discuss the differences of the wordrobes, or closets, of people in Laura's time with those of today's generation. Tell good things and bad things about both. Non-detailed responses will NOT be accepted.
