Guide to Special Education

"But Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these" (NIV, 1973/2011, Luke 18:16).

"'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future'" (NIV, 1973/2011, Jeremiah 29:11).

This site is a guide to the special education (SPED) process for parents or guardians and teachers. It will familiarize readers with the SPED process in Illinois under the Eastern Illinois Area Special Education cooperative umbrella (EIASE, 2022; ISBE, 2022). Parents or guardians and teachers will have access to information on local guidelines on timelines, meeting participants, and data collection. They will gain an understanding of what special education services look like and how they are similar, but yet different from the general education program. It will provide parents or guardians and teachers with access to special education resources and students access to learning games, videos, and activities.
