Question:

You have now read the twenty-first chapter of Little House on the Prairie. Pa brought back news from Independence that the settlers might be asked to leave the area. He didn't believe them, saying that the government had promised that the area would be open for settlers. According to what Pa heard, the Indians were complaining about the settlers invading their lands. Do some research about Indian Territory. Did the Indians have a right to complain? Did the government have the right to open the territory up for settlers? Who was there first? Do you think the settlers will be asked to leave the area? What do you think will happen to the Indians? Explain your answer. Non-detailed responses will NOT be accepted.
